Optimal: Pipe diameter ≈ 60%–80% of the hose clamp range (e.g. 20mm pipe → select 16–25, with 20 in the middle)
Taboo: Do not approach the minimum or maximum limit
Too close to the minimum: easy to loosen, poor sealing
Too close to the maximum: difficult to install, easy to damage the hose clamp / hose
Band width matching pipe diameter
Small pipe diameter (≤25mm): 6–8mm narrow band (American / standard)
Medium pipe diameter (25–50mm): 10–12mm medium band
Large pipe diameter (>50mm) / high pressure: 12–16mm wide band (heavy-duty / European)
Type and scenario matching
American type (worm drive): General low pressure, household / gardening, PVC / PPR hoses
European / heavy-duty type: High pressure, vibration, industrial, automotive oil circuits
T-type / double-ear type: Ultra-high pressure, heavy-duty equipment
Spring / pre-opened type: Silicone hoses, bellows, frequent disassembly and assembly
Material selection
Ordinary environment: 201 stainless steel
Humid / outdoor / water and oil: 304 stainless steel
Coastal / chemical / strong corrosion: 316 stainless steel
High temperature (>120℃): 310S / high temperature alloy
Measure: Measure the outer diameter of the pipe (mm)
Check: Find from the comparison table that the "minimum–maximum" of the hose clamp covers this outer diameter
Select: Prioritize middle section matching, corresponding band width and material suitable for the scenario
Avoid: Prefer smaller rather than larger (oversized ones have long tails, interference and instability)
❌ Selecting by inner diameter →必定 loose or leakage
❌ Selecting oversized hose clamps → exposed steel belt, easy to scratch, uneven fastening
❌ Using narrow-band small hose clamps for high pressure → deformation, fracture, leakage
